Summary

Restorative Justice at Kairos centers around resolving conflicts and restoring relationships, serving as a wrap-around service of sorts. If you believe that discipline should seek to educate instead of punishing, come build a more equitable world at Kairos. 

Responsibilities

• Foster a community that is anchored Kairos' shared values: Collegial, Inquisitive, Responsible, Intention
• Enforce our values and be willing to hold students accountable
• Use trauma-informed strategies to de-escalate conflict in and outside of the classroom
• Lead, observe, and evaluate Circle, a major component of our school culture and our community's social-emotional awareness. The purpose of Circle is to not only promote vulnerability, but also to build community by allowing space for our students and staff to support one another and learn more about how life experiences shape perspectives.
• Assist in lunch coverage (while showing the kids who’s boss at gaga ball)
• Other tasks necessary to build empathy, restore dignity, enable healing, and strengthen our community

Technology Skills 

Competence in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use a variety of computer applications and platforms. Ability to use basic office equipment. Knowledge and experience in using a computer-based student Information Management system.

Safety Duties & Responsibilities 

Every employee of the school has an obligation to know our safety rules and procedures; to teach what they know to others; to recognize unsafe actions and situations; to warn others of unsafe situations; to react to emergency situations and to report hazardous or unsafe practices to those in a position to correct them.

Qualifications and Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree Required
• Missouri Substitute Certification Required
• 1 year of teacher experience Preferred
• Satisfactory completion of criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.

Starting Salary: $40,000 annually, based on experience.

Schedule:

• In-person teaching Monday through Friday 7:30am 4:00pm 
  • Some weekends and evenings will be required

• Saint Louis, MO 63118: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required). Please note, this is not a remote position. All Kairos teachers are required to deliver in-person instruction onsite, in our school in St. Louis.
