Job Overview:

A Unit Clerk maintains files of medical records, data entry in the electronic health record system, answers phones and greets visitors and residents, schedules appointments and transportation services for the residents, and performs other duties as required.

General Responsibilities:

• Answer telephone calls and transfer to appropriate personnel/residents.
• Greet and interact with residents and guests, and provide them assistance as needed within your ability and scope of the position.
• Maintain residents’ rights and privacy.
• Maintain medical record charts.
• Direct visitors to residents’ rooms.
• Distribute mail and/or newspapers to residents.
• Schedule appointments and transportation for residents.
• Comply with federal and state regulations and safety guidelines.

Experience/Knowledge:

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year related experience.

Qualifications and Skills

• Related administrative experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other employees.
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, with an aptitude to learn company healthcare software.
• Must maintain regular attendance.
• Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Strong attention to detail
