DESCRIPTION: Under the direction and supervision of the Principal or designee, the candidate will plan instruction, teach, motivate, inspire, the artistic talents of Middle School Art Students. The candidate will promote a high quality, personalized education program that reflects the Michigan Content Standards for Art.
GOAL: To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential developing artistic skills and communication skills through art, while promoting a positive classroom environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with LX endorsement
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering and art history
- Encourage creativity and self expression in students through art projects and assignments
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current curriculum
- May sponsor exhibits from outside of the school
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student-learning styles.
- Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
- Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others.
RATE OF PAY: Per the Master Agreement
