Job Summary
Support the daily completion of maintenance work requests and preventative maintenance, and in addition, assist with oversight of daily work to ensure facilities are accessible, functional, and well-maintained.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in hiring, training, and supervising maintenance work through daily systems checks, evaluations, and work orders. Complete required reporting, maintenance records, assist with meetings and recommend technical training needs.
- Operate fire monitoring systems and peripheral devices, use building automation to monitor building conditions, and troubleshoot equipment/appliance failures, perform diagnostics, and resolve deficiencies.
- Work with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pneumatic/electric actuators, fans, starters, motors, air handlers, pumps, etc.
- Supervise and work alongside a team performing work on high/low voltage distribution and equipment, restore lights and ballasts, maintain and repair hot/cold water systems, preserve the building envelope, and more.
- Provide back-up support for operational coverage, meet contractors, communicate on and respond to urgent maintenance needs, and perform general mechanical maintenance and carpentry work.
- Support other departments with security and public safety measures, materials handling and materials/inventory organization, upkeep of clean environments through custodial processes, and maintaining accessibility and exterior areas/systems through grounds work.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of acceptable supervisory practices.
- Knowledge of commercial fire safety systems and monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of safety practices associated with maintenance work.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting and HVAC.
- Knowledge of building automation and work order programs.
- Skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing the work of others.
- Skill in balancing multiple assignments and projects.
- Skill in developing instructions and ensuring operational best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education equivalent to high school diploma and experience equivalent to three years in HVAC, electrical systems and/or related work is required.
- Driver’s license with the ability to drive college vehicles between campuses and supply vendors.
- Ability to acquire a pool operator, pesticide applicator, universal EPA 608, forklift, and aerial platform certifications if requested
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50 – 75 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights exceeding 10’
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions
Work Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Some evening and weekend work maybe required on a rotational basis with other staff.
