JOB SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Supervisor - Heat Treat motivates, supports, and provides guidance to production staff, ensures safety standards are met, and communicates regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production. The successful candidate is committed to the creation and promotion of a positive group atmosphere, establishes a balance between increased productivity and costs of manufacturing operations, and sets quality & productivity goals for the team. The ideal candidate will have a background in metal working, metallurgy, engineering, and/or heat treatment process and will lead and mentor a team of furnace & induction operators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
- Monitors production on the shop floor and helps drive understanding of furnace maintenance issues on heat treatment results. Recommends changes to support continuous improvement.
- Leads and coaches team leaders.
- Leads employees in continuous improvement and promotes a learning culture within the department.
- Enforces safety policies and procedures to decrease the potential for injuries on the job.
- Communicates company goals and expectations to the employees and provides feedback to upper management.
- Sets daily/weekly/monthly objectives and ensures adequate scheduling of staff.
- Develops training and develops the team to support standardized work.
- Monitors and appraises job results by coaching, training and counseling employees.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions.
- Evaluates each work center to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Organizes, directs, and controls daily production on all shifts.
- Initiates change processes and actively participates in continuous improvement projects.
- On-time delivery, quality, and cost responsibility within the budget.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibility for order and cleanliness.
- Interdepartmental communication on relevant issues.
- Support root cause analysis.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Operations Management, or a related field highly preferred.
- CQI-9 Heat Treatment Assessment System, highly preferred.
- Supervisory or managerial experience in an industrial manufacturing environment required.
- Professional experience in Cold Forming, Cold Heading, Heat Treatment, Fastener Manufacturing, or Automotive Manufacturing required.
- Advanced certifications (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.) a plus.
- Independent and goal-oriented approach
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Able to prepare communications, such as reports and presentations, to provide insights on production trends
