Resource Team Members

for the 2025 Summer Season

Resource Team (RT) is the primary program staff, working under the supervision of the Executive Director and with Camp Directors, Counselors and Campers during each camp week. There are a variety of roles including, but not limited to, lifeguarding, driving for off-site activities, activity planning and coordination, and safety/rules oversight.

Resource team members are to:

• Be role models for campers and counselors
• Be self-starters, energetic, able to think on their feet
• Be organized and able to plan and coordinate a variety of programming
• Interface well with a variety of people of all ages
• Lead games, singing, tye-dying and other activities
• Have an excellent driving record and pass a background check

Certifications necessary:

• lifeguard (reimbursement provided)
• First Aid/CPR (reimbursement provided)
• A current driver’s license
• Health Insurance

RT reports for duty on May 12th for a week of on-site training and getting the camp ready for campers. The first camp begins May 19, 2024. The last camp ends on August 3rd; the last day of work for RT is August 5th. After camps are over, the RT inventories supplies, puts final touches on cleaning the camp, and evaluates the summer. Days off include extended break the first week of July as well as an extended break each day and the occasional day off.

This is an excellent PAID internship opportunity for those seeking to go into a variety of careers including Christian ministry or positions in the camping field. Remuneration includes a stipend of $3,600, housing, laundry facilities and all meals during scheduled camps.

Established in 1965, Kamp Kaleo (kampkaleo.com) is a year-round camp/conference/retreat center located two miles east of Burwell, Nebraska, on State Highway 91. with over 250 acres of meadows, wetlands and woods with a mile and a quarter river frontage on the North Loup River. The summer church camping programs are overseen by the Youth and Outdoor Ministry Committee (YOMC) of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska and the United Church of Christ-Tri Conference (Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa). In addition to church camps, RT will work with special needs camps such as Adventures in Community, catering to developmentally disabled adults, the Lions Camp for hearing and visually impaired youth people, and Burn Camp for young people who have suffered burn injuries.
