What are the responsibilities and job description for the Humane Officer position at Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association?
KCHA's Humane Officer is responsible for enforcing Kanawha County, WV State laws and ordinances as they pertain to animal welfare. They will investigate reports on animal cruelty, patrol on calls for injured, sick and/or unwanted animals in Kanawha County and investigate animals that pose a safety risk for the public. The Humane Officer keeps the peace, educates and empowers members of the public who need assistance in caring for their animals. The Humane Officer must have emotional intelligence, as well as attention to detail to enforce and document their findings.
The humane officer will typically work Monday through Friday for 8 hour shifts with a 30 minute lunch break and will alternate every week being on call for after hours emergencies and on weekends with a fellow humane officer. KCHA will provide a company vehicle used for investigating calls and transporting animals.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 34 – 40 per week
