What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Specialist- Level 1 position at Kane County Auditor's Office?
JOB SUMMARY:
This is a regular Full-time Entry-Level hourly position. The schedule is 35 hours per week. The schedule will be subject to change.
This position performs certain administrative duties and other assignments under the supervision of the County Auditor, Deputy Auditor and Staff Auditor. The nature of this position may require contact with all levels of County employees and officials, as well as contact with outside vendors, external auditors and other agencies and representatives related to County business.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Include, but are not limited to):
· Review of countywide accounts payable and payroll processing to ensure proper documentation, authorization and accuracy.
· Manage accounts payable using accounting software and other programs
· Prepare invoices and contract documents for permanent record retention
· Ensure accounts payable are paid accurately while adhering to departmental procedures
· Prepare expense vouchers and review reimbursements for proper authorizations and compliance with County financial policy
· Serve as the accounts payable coordinator for the Office of the Kane County Auditor
· Perform other tasks at the direction of the County Auditor, Deputy Auditor and/or Staff Auditor to ensure that the Office runs efficiently.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with various special projects at the request of the County Auditor, Deputy Auditor and/or Staff Auditor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate. Preference will be given to a candidate with higher education and/or accounting experience relative to the responsibilities of the job as described above.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Strong competency with Microsoft Office products is required.
· Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with outstanding communications skills.

Reports to: Kane County Auditor or designee
