Job Description Summary :
Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research / scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths : Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research / scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.
Job Duties Outlined :
- Provides direct patient care services within the Addictions program to diagnose and treat various substance use disorders, co-morbid psychiatric illnesses, and other related medical conditions.
- Evaluates, screens, and assesses each patient to determine whether an admission into the program is appropriate; refers patients to lower or higher levels of care as needed.
- Tailors each individual's treatment plan to their unique needs, facilitating medication-assisted treatment (Methadone, Suboxone, Vivitrol), psychiatric evaluation and management, psychotherapy, and other evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Collaborates with the clinic's medical, clinical, and administrative support staff, offering case consultations and other resources as needed; participates in treatment planning meetings and peer review activities.
- Works effectively with a multitude of healthcare providers, both internal and external to the department, to ensure optimal healthcare delivery; coordinates patient care services extending across the continuum of care.
- Documents the medical services rendered accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner in accordance with established organizational policies.
- Provides direct and / or collaborative supervision for medical students, residents, and other trainees; conducts a clinical practice that promotes and advances the organization's educational mission.
- Adheres to the applicable licensure, accreditation, confidentiality, and treatment standards as outlined in the state and federal regulations; complies with program specific policies and procedures.
- Assumes on-call responsibilities for dosage changes and other medication administration concerns; provides telephone consultation on an as-needed basis.
- Maintains flexibility regarding clinical assignments in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department; engages in organizational and departmental initiatives and committees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education / Certification :
Work Experience : Addictions experience required.
Required Documents :If selected as a final candidate for this position, you may be required to complete the Association of American of Universities Representations and Warranties document and sign a release of records that will allow the University of Kansas Medical Center to conduct a further background check with former employers.
