Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing leadership to the accounting staff. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in the financial management of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, while facilitating effective financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the accounting team, providing direction, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Conduct financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and standards, and manage the audit process.
- Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, providing input and supporting data to other departments.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance financial controls and operational efficiencies.
- Assist in the development of financial strategies by providing insight into long-term planning and capital investment activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support cross-functional initiatives, including pricing strategies and project management.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset and inventory records and oversee inventory valuation calculations.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the accounting function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, etc.) and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience managing and developing a team.
