PURPOSE OF JOB : Responsible for the execution of accounting functions in accordance with GAAP, applicable laws and district policies, procedures, and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following.
- Understand federal, state, and local funding for special education.
- Attend DESE financial trainings to remain current.
- Manage DESE ePeGs system for financial entry.
- Complete yearly Special Education Finance Desk Monitoring in DESE Tiered Monitoring section.
- Understand and manage Part B Entitlement Allocations
- Maintenance of Effort requirement
- Part B Payment Requests
- Final Expenditure Report (FER)
- Time management documentation
- Cash management plans
- Coordinate with district Finance Department
- Monthly tracing of special education expenditures
- Coordinate the staffing location changes with expenditures.
- Prepare Yearly proposed budgets for KCPS for Director's review.
- Determine needed costs of special education programs for the upcoming school year.
- Review contracts with outside agencies for anticipated cost changes.
- Local Tax Effort listed
- Check calculation on DESE for accuracy.
- Check billings from other educational institutions for accuracy.
- Outside Vendors
- Review billings for accuracy.
- Maintain documentation of contract limits and submit amendments as required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Length of work year : 12 months 7.5 hours per day / 5 days per week; 260 workdays
