Tuesday: 4 pm - 8 pm
Wednesday: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Sunday: 1 pm - 5pm

Job Duties (Essential Functions)
- Provides basic circulation and registration services to assure patrons ready access to library materials: Checks materials in and out; issues library cards; collects charges; updates customer records in the computer; verbally explains circulation policies and procedures; makes other computer inquiries; and processes patron requests for reserve items.
- Empties book drops internally and externally.
- Completes materials route ins.
- Sorts and accurately shelves library materials; Reads shelves for proper order of materials, shifting when necessary.
- Processes daily POSH list, following proper procedures.
- Completes collection maintenance lists, following proper procedures.
- Maintains effective, courteous working relationships with all library customers in-person and over the phone.
- Performs other related work and undertakes special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to learn filing order in Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
- Demonstrated ability to learn library operations, services and policies, including computer procedures; willingness to learn and keep current with emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Many duties performed while standing and bending; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to access materials from shelves which may be overhead or those which may be below waist level.
- Must be able to work at a counter used for customer interactions.
- Ability to speak and understand English is required, additional consideration will be given to individuals that are proficient in any non-English languages spoken in Jackson County, MO including Spanish, Vietnamese, French, Arabic, and Swahili.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 9th grade education, 16 years of age.
