Job Description :
The Quality Improvement (QI) and Research Specialist supports Kansas City University's (KCU) GME community by fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and scholarly activity. The specialist collaborates with residents, fellows, faculty, and institutional leaders to implement QI initiatives, enhance research opportunities, and ensure compliance with ACGME standards, including Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and oversee QI / PS initiatives across GME programs
- Teach QI and PS concepts to residents, fellows, and faculty
- Maintain a centralized catalog of QI projects and outcomes
- Conduct audits, analyze data, and collaborate with the DIO on improvements
- Lead meetings with clinical site QI and risk management staff
- Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for ACGME CLER focus areas
- Collaborate with program directors and clinical sites on compliance and improvement strategies
- Prepare documentation and logistics for ACGME CLER site visits
- Develop and promote GME research strategies and policies
- Mentor residents, fellows, and faculty on research and scholarly activities
- Support and track QI / PS projects and research productivity
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and faculty development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with ACGME standards related to QI, PS, and scholarly activity
- Chair or co-chair the Learning and Working Environment Subcommittee
- Identify training needs and develop materials to support QI, PS, and research efforts., seminars, and mentorship programs on QI and research methodologies.
