- This position provides support, consultation, compliance to evidence based care, and patient safety practices in aligned service areas. Supports the organization in communication of information from the aggregation, trending, analyzing, and evaluation of current practices and outcomes. Facilitates and drives improvements in clinical performance initiatives and helps to maintain regulatory compliance. Performance relies on general nursing/clinical knowledge, including pathophysiology , pharmacology, and regulatory requirements. Advanced computer skills are required to proficiently conduct the following: develop presentations, concurrent and retrospective chart abstraction, database submissions and entries, and analyze variations in data for use in improvement opportunities. Provides Medical Staff reviews and supports functions of Medical Staff quality. Will be assigned databases for abstracting data and compiling statistical reports to Regulatory bodies, Leadership, and Physician groups. Works with information systems and tools to obtain data needed for clinical process improvements or provide data on request from internal customers. Research and communicate best practices for various aspects of clinical healthcare.
- This position works under the supervision of the Director of Quality and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
- Abstracts data from concurrent and retrospective charts, as well as computerized data systems using approved criteria for routine and special studies. Completes analysis of data and develops recommendations of activities to improve performance based upon the analysis
- Proactively researches changes in quality/patient safety measures to support public reporting requirements (i.e. CMS and Joint Commission) including measure additions/deletions, change in specifications and submission timelines. Communicates changes to measures to applicable stakeholder groups.
- Data collection for support of medical staff/organizational functions which may include blood usage, invasive procedures, mortality, medical record documentation, peer review, code blue reviews, restraints, falls, and adverse events.
- Works with key clinical systems to retrieve data, and maintain data integrity as appropriate to regulatory and process improvement activities. Key systems may include the databases of Midas, Verge, EPSI, Microsoft office, NDNQI, Premier and others as deemed necessary.
- Actively participates in regulatory readiness and survey processes.
- Graduate from school of nursing, BSN preferred.
- RN licensure.
- Five years clinical nursing experience and personal computer skills, including word processing, graphing, statistical display, use of spreadsheets.
