Job Description:
The Score 1 for Health Screening Coordinator will oversee the organization of health screenings in elementary schools throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates free health screenings for urban core elementary children in the KC metropolitan area. Schedules screenings and re-screenings in every school
- Supports manager by working with nursing and allied health school faculty to schedule allied health science students, and foster healthy organizational partnerships. Includes timely procurement of all written, signed agreements needed for collaborative partnerships
- Supports the coordination and promotion of early clinical experience through Score 1 for KCU medical students
- Schedules events associated with promotion of health screenings
- Works with school nurses, principals and other staff and promotes their roles as partners with Score 1 for Health
- Schedules trainings and orientations for nursing and allied health programs participating in Score 1 screenings
- Works with entire Score 1 team including the office coordinator and nurses to plan screening events designed to meet the needs of the program and KCU curricular/clinical departments
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health sciences or allied health/human services required
- Five years’ experience working in elementary schools and/or community health organizations preferred
- Experience in health promotion, event scheduling and coordination, multi-cultural health education and training, mentoring, health professions students is desired
- School nursing and/or school district health services experience is desirable
- Ability to promote partnerships and build relationships to ensure strong community relations with elementary school partners, higher education partners and community organizations necessary
- Proficiency in navigating computer applications
- Demonstrated expertise in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office and email communication is essential
- Capability to analyze and resolve procedural problems
- Organize own work, coordinating projects, setting priorities, meeting deadlines and follow up on assignments with minimum direction
- Use initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, subordinates, superiors, the general public, representatives of public and private organizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information
