About the Position: Facility Maintenance Supervisor - 215686
This position will be located at our Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Shawnee County.

Compensation: $21.13 to $28.31/hr ($43,950.40 to $58,884.80/yr)*

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: This is highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of the physical plant and grounds of an agency and supervision of an organizational unit of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assigns and directs the work of skilled craft workers such as electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc., in the installation, maintenance, repair and operations functions of steam, water, sewer, and electrical systems, refrigeration/air conditioning and electrical equipment, walls, floorings, ceilings, duct work and guttering; construction of shower and toilet buildings, shop buildings, concrete and wood structures; painting of buildings and maintenance of grounds; may supervise the grounds maintenance operations of an agency.
- Designs practical on-the-job training for less experienced workers; develops cross-training experiences for workers to develop more versatile workforce.
- Assists supervisor in planning of project work, estimates materials and supplies needed for projects. Accepts or rejects materials and supplies received. Maintains awareness of current literature concerning material, equipment and technique as they apply to work performed and supervised.
- Maintains control measures over worker safety practices and care of equipment, tools and supplies.
- Supervises and trains inmates, clients and residents in the performance of skilled craft level work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades. (Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency)
- Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver’s license and/or Valid Identification (ID)
- Free of felony convictions or adjudication, whether or not expunged,
- Free of any felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime
- Free of conviction or adjudication by a court of law or court-martial, of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year (whether or not the sentence was imposed).
- Free of conviction as an adult of Driving Under the Influence (or comparable law regarding driving while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance) in the past 24 months.
- Free of conviction or adjudication of a misdemeanor involving drug use or possession in the past 60 months
- Free of any criminal charges, indictments or outstanding warrants pending.
- Successful completion of a physical agility test and written assessment administered by the facility
- Must complete TB screening process
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must pass a criminal history records check, DCF Child Abuse and Neglect check, PREA check, TB skin test, UA Drug Test.
