POSITION TITLE: Assertive Community Treatment Individual-Family Therapist
REPORTS TO: Assertive Community Treatment Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS: None
FLSA STATUS: Exempt; full-time; Employment-at-will position.
PURPOSE: The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Individual and Family Therapist is responsible for providing individual and group counseling services to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This position will work as part of the ACT multidisciplinary treatment team to provide integrated, evidence-based care that addresses both mental health and substance use concerns.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct comprehensive and thorough clinical assessments of individuals referred to the ACT program.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic modalities to address the mental health needs of clients.
- Provide individual therapy sessions to clients, focusing on skill-building, symptom management, and recovery goals.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions aimed at enhancing coping skills, social support, and overall well-being.
- Respond to crisis situations promptly, employing de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with the crisis intervention team to develop and implement crisis prevention plans.
- Work closely with ACT team members to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
- Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss client progress, treatment adjustments, and discharge planning.
- Monitor client progress in treatment, using outcome measures and other tools to assess the effectiveness of treatment, and adjust the treatment plans as needed with client input.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical interactions and treatment plans in compliance with agency policies and relevant regulations.
- Engage with community resources to enhance the support network available to clients.
- Provide education and outreach to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma in the community.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or family therapy with an active, unrestricted license in the state of Kansas to practice (LMSW, LPC, LMFT, etc).
- Two plus years of experience providing individual and family therapy services;
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and other professionals.
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, recovery principles, and practices for treating mental illness.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the diverse needs of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Remaining stationery, such as standing or sitting, for prolonged periods.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in any direction.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands or fingers.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The main work site will be Hiawatha Community Services Building but travel to other locations may be required. The environment is a typical office environment. While on location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment. The work schedule will generally conform to that of a full-time Monday-Friday 40-hour-per-week schedule.

SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION: Salary commensurate with experience and Kanza MHGC salary structure.
