Buyer I – Kapco, Grafton, WI

The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials and services from external suppliers and service providers. This role ensures that external purchase orders align with production and work order requirements. Apply today to learn more!
Primary Responsibilities
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for materials, components, and services from external suppliers and outside service providers.
- Communicate with internal teams regarding lead times, part availability and expedite requests.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality standards, on-time delivery, and cost-effective procurement.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to optimize safety stock levels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including customer service, production planning, operations, new product integration, and quality to resolve any issues related to materials or services.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to achieve on-time delivery, quality and inventory goals/objectives.
- Track order status, expedite deliveries as needed, and manage changes to production schedules or supplier commitments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards in all purchasing activities.
Skills & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business or similar discipline.
- A minimum 3-5 years purchasing experience, with experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, and inventory management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and remain organized.
