Overview
Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, at Indiana University, is seeking a House Director to start July 2025. In a typical year there are around 95 members who reside in the chapter house, and around 90 additional members who reside in alternate housing on campus.
Full-time position: Oversee the operations and maintenance of the house; maintain accurate records; observe Fraternity Bylaws, Standing Rules, Policies and Chapter House rules; uphold a positive relationship with residents & members, alumnae, House Board, and staff (housekeeping, foodservice, and outside contractors); enforce chapter and Indiana University policies and other tasks to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for residents to live and study thereby promoting a positive member and alumnae experience.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the House Director include, but are not limited to the following:
- Observe Fraternity and House Corporation Board housing policies and chapter house rules.
- Administer House financial records:
- Collect/coordinate weekly bills/invoices
- Deliver appropriate bills and payroll records to accountant
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate House staff
- Maintain a professional working relationship with chefs and kitchen staff, housekeepers, maintenance workers, ground keepers, and other help/vendors as needed.
- Arrange for routine services including equipment maintenance, pest control, snow removal, etc.
- House Director is expected to supervise common repairs and deliveries and ensure that the house is maintained in accordance with all Fraternity, House Board, and local recommendations and regulations for good health.
- Ensure all life safety and security standards are met and fill out incident reports.
- Serve as Chapter Hostess:
- Provide a comfortable environment for members and their guests by promoting social graciousness and positive morale in all aspects of daily living and Chapter activities / participation
- Prepare for, meet, and welcome guests, including Fraternity Officers, parents and friends of members, and alumnae.
- Offer support and / or comfort to members on an as needed basis and post regular “office hours” for availability to meet with members. House Director is expected to eat at least one meal a day with members to foster ongoing communication and engagement.
- Assist with conducting room checks before and after each closing with House Board Member(s) and Chapter House officers, making a written list of all repairs or purchases that need to be completed. House Director will also maintain a complete set of keys and access codes to the house.
- Communicate regularly with House Board and Advisory Board and if unable to attend in person, provide written report for each House Board meeting including pertinent information regarding supervised staff and updates on house conditions.
- Meet weekly with Chapter House officers and discuss any issues or announcements that need to be communicated to members at large.
- Submit a weekly update report to all House Board members.
- Participate in House Director activities on campus and attend House Director seminars (as approved by house board)
Qualifications
The House Director must be professional, have good organizational and communication skills. She must exercise good judgement and facilitate adherence to all rules and regulations. Applicant must possess:
- Positive, solution-focused attitude
- Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with staff, students, parents, alumnae, service providers, campus representatives and community resources
- Basic bookkeeping skills
- Ability to perform basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with college-age women, patience and flexibility
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidential information
- Must be physically active and able to perform normal activities such as climbing up to three flights of stairs, lifting, and bending
Required experience:
- Previous experience working with college-age students: 1 year
- Previous House Director Experience Preferred: 1 year
- Valid Driver's License
**The house is a smoke, animal, drug, firearm, and alcohol-free environment.

The House Director will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include: a private, furnished live-in apartment with living room kitchenette, bedroom, and private bath, meals when members are in the house, cable TV, Internet connection, a designated parking space, and time off on all recognized University breaks (Thanksgiving Break, Winter break, Spring break.) Health insurance allowance will be provided. The House Director is required to reside onsite during all nights when chapter members are in residence. During the summer break, the chapter house closes.
