Karla Otto New York is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Account Manager to join our growing Beauty Division. The individual will be a self-starter, but also a team player with the ability to lead and motivate others. An individual in this role will possess substantive industry knowledge and have strong relationships with beauty media (consumer, trade and digital). The candidate must possess a solid understanding of the beauty industry, fashion trends and luxury culture and showcase a deep knowledge of the beauty media and influencer landscape. A true team player and committed mentor, this individual will be collaborative and eager to share ideas and information with all Karla Otto offices and teams.
The Senior Account Manager, Beauty Communications will craft and successfully deliver innovative and best-in-class media & communication strategies, programs and initiatives that support our clients’ overall business objectives. Additionally, as a senior lead for Karla Otto US and the Global Beauty & Wellness Division, they will proactively contribute to winning new business for this vertical in the US market. The successful candidate will be passionate about / possess strong knowledge of current global trends not just in beauty (skincare, make-up, fragrance, haircare, wellness and beauty tech), PR and influencer marketing, but will also have a keen interest in the wider cultural and luxury landscape.
Extremely well connected, they will have strong senior level relationships with beauty & wellness media across consumer, trade, print, and digital, and broadcast plus influencers, industry experts (make-up artists, hair stylists, aestheticians), and brands.
Working alongside the Vice President and Account Director :
- Support team to ideate and develop truly innovative communications strategies that execute a brand’s vision.
- Work closely with clients to develop compelling PR programs that drive brand awareness and purchase behaviour.
- Serve as day-to-day account lead delivering exceptional client service at each touchpoint.
- Develop and deliver a deep understanding of each client’s brand, their ethos and unique value proposition.
- Maintain ongoing, senior-level contact with key beauty directors, and editors at major long and short-lead publications, and websites.
- Support the team in developing pitch calendars that both align with their editorial focus and support client brand strategy
- Proactively outreach to key beauty editors in long / short lead, TV and online media outlets to secure coverage, features, and news items
- Pitch and secure high level, in-depth brand and product feature and founder profiles
- Remain ahead of all news at the intersection of beauty and wellness, digital and culture in order to advise clients on new opportunities and emerging PR strategies, as well as competitors and opportunities relevant to the beauty & wellness space
- Conceive of creative pitches and lead brainstorms for client profiles and features
- Develop, write and edit PR materials and secure client sign-off as appropriate.
- Bring innovative and new ideas to the table with regard to strategies, events, mailings and activations
- Collaborate with Talent team on developing a robust database of both established and up-and-coming influential beauty & wellness influencers, aestheticians, makeup artists and hairstylists
- Compile monthly media status reports and monitor progress on an on-going basis
- Oversee event management, from concept to execution, to ensure seamless execution of brand vision and deliverables
- Support team in new business development, including brainstorming and RFP process
- Ensure positive communication with clients and international Karla Otto offices
- Oversee the management of sample ordering and replenishment.
- Able to lead, encourage, mentor, and develop junior staff members
