SEEKING A QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY

Karlsburger Foods is seeking to two Quality Control Technicians. One on our AM shift, hours are 6AM to 2PM with a paid lunch, and one on our PM shift, hours are 2PM -10PM with a paid lunch.

The Food Manufacturing Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the production process. This role involves inspecting raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to guarantee compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA and GFSI) and company standards. The technician works closely with production teams to identify and potentially resolve any quality issues, ensuring safe, high-quality food products are delivered to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct QC Inspections & Tests:
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF, USDA, FDA) during production.
  • Use water activity meter (SKALA) to perform real-time results ensure products meet critical control standards.
  • Document and/or review quality results as required by PCQI (Preventive Control Qualified Individual for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Document and/or review verification of Critical/Preventive Limits (Foreign Material, Metal Detector Checks, Temperature Controls, Thawing Process, Sampling, Cooking/Cooling requirements, etc.) as required by the Food Safety Plan.
  • Conduct regular audits of production lines, storage areas, and raw material handling to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Perform physical and sensory inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Check for proper labeling, packaging, and shelf-life requirements to comply with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct QC Reviews:
  • Finished goods are verified to follow product standards and regulatory requirements to create our company specific Certificate of Analysis.
  • Verify proper product labeling, and packaging according to specifications.
  • Identify non-conformities and escalate issues to management for further action.
  • Data Recording & Reporting:
  • Record and track defects, issues, and resolution steps in quality tracking systems.
  • Record inspection results, test findings, and corrective actions taken in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including batch production logs, test results, and audit reports.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:
  • Identify and investigate quality issues, non-conformities, or deviations from specifications.
  • Identify root causes of quality issues and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with production and management teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure that non-conforming products are identified and removed from the production process to prevent them from reaching consumers.
  • Process Improvement & Continuous Monitoring:
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and increase production efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to refine manufacturing practices and reduce defects.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Follow health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Training and Development:
  • Assist in training new staff on testing procedures, tools, and documentation practices.
  • Sanitation & Facility Inspections:
  • Perform regular sanitation checks and verify that cleaning procedures are followed, ensuring a safe and hygienic production environment.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's
  • Experience: Previous experience in a quality assurance or quality control role is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in using computers, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Certifications (Optional but beneficial):
  • Certification in PCQI (Preventive Control Qualified Individual) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Plan) is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment.
  • May be required to work shifts, weekends, or holidays depending on company needs.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required.
  • May be exposed to manufacturing or chemical environments (depending on the industry).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
