This is a fully REMOTE position. The Proposal/Business Development Manager supports the Business Development Team with the development and management of compliant proposals. This includes implementation of capture and proposal strategies. Reports to the Director, Business Development Operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops business development documents including proposal templates, RFI responses, and customer presentations
- Implements Business Development team strategies to capture opportunities
- Responsible for proposal log tracking and on-time proposal submittal
- Proposal Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement proposal strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
- Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and other solicitation documents to identify requirements, compliance needs, and evaluation criteria.
- Create detailed proposal schedules, outlines, and compliance matrices to ensure on-time and compliant submissions.
- Proposal Development and Coordination:
- Lead the proposal process, coordinating with cross-functional teams including business development, technical experts, pricing, and graphics teams.
- Manage and oversee the development of proposal content, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with client requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for proposal-related activities, resolving issues and ensuring smooth communication among stakeholders.
- Content Creation and Editing:
- Write, edit, and review proposal content, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and alignment with solicitation requirements.
- Develop win themes, key messaging, and value propositions tailored to the customer’s needs.
- Ensure the proposal is visually compelling and easy to navigate, working with graphic designers and desktop publishers as needed.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all proposals meet the solicitation’s compliance requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Conduct quality checks, including formatting, grammar, and adherence to submission guidelines.
- Perform color team reviews (e.g., Pink, Red, Gold Team) to assess and refine proposals.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead and mentor proposal teams, fostering collaboration and accountability throughout the proposal lifecycle.
- Train and support staff in proposal best practices, tools, and processes.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and refine proposal development processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain a library of reusable proposal content, templates, and tools to streamline future efforts.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Track and report proposal progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership.
- Document lessons learned from each proposal effort and incorporate improvements into future processes.
- Other Duties:
- Support related business development activities, including market research, capture planning, and customer engagement as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and customer needs to enhance proposal strategies.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred Experience: Shipley Methodology trained. 3 years of proposal management experience.
- Experience in space or defense industry.
- Additional Preferred Experience:
- Experience managing teams and/or projects
- Experience with customer presentations
- Exposure to concept development, technology application, and program planning
- Ability to communicate effectively with both written and spoken forms
- Ability to drive proposal schedule and coordinate team management
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Up To10-20% Travel Required
- Secret Clearance preferred
Salary : $120,000 - $145,000
