REPORTS TO: GM of Accounting
DESCRIPTION: Manages Technical Accounting and Treasury for the Company, ensuring compliance with local and Group accounting standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and advise accounting treatment for new, complex, or unusual transactions ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP standards, with reclassification to J-GAAP where applicable
- Review current accounting processes to ensure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement; create, document, train and implement revised procedures
- Responsible for all statutory reporting requirements, including Group Consolidation Package, local U.S. GAAP Audited Financials, Interim financial statements, government mandated surveys/filing obligations, etc. with an emphasis on timeliness and accuracy
- Tax compliance (Property, Sales/Use, Income, et al.) through close coordination with external tax consultants where applicable; ensure taxes are appropriately recorded in financial statements and provide forecasts as needed
- Work closely with other departments or individuals on problems involving technical accounting or treasury matters
- Responsible for bank account maintenance (open, modify, and close accounts as needed)
- Manage bank account balances and GL reconciliations, record loan and interest fees, analyze bank fees, administer Company credit cards and other Treasury duties as directed
- Oversee completion of internal and external audits; serve as liaison between auditor and local and/or offshore staff with respect to areas of responsibility
- Serve as ASC 842 Lease Accounting subject matter expert to review routine and non-routine lease transactions
- Regular communication to KNA Management team regarding current accounting issues, ongoing process improvement projects, any help needs, and escalation points as needed
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, 5S practices, regulatory and/or customer requirements.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, required.
- Advanced degree - either an MBA or CPA, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10 Years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to balance sheet reconciliation
- Demonstrated experience in managing Treasury functions and Financial Consolidation, preferably within a Japanese multinational company
- Prior experience in automotive, or a similarly complex, industry is a plus
- Knowledge of computer based operations and associated programs.

- Strong analytical reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Capable of comparing and verifying the accuracy of financial records across different sources, identifying any discrepancies or errors, and then actively addressing those issues by making necessary adjustments or taking corrective steps to ensure financial data integrity
- Ability to communicate confidently across management levels and functions
OTHER:
- Must be able to work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
