What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Katherine Frank Creative?
Katherine Frank Creative is a boutique creative agency within the exhibit/tradeshow industry looking for a Project Manager to work out of our Glendale Heights, IL facility.
The PM would manage multiple projects with a wide range of scope and deliverables working from the design stage all the way through completion of production. Projects include tradeshow booths, event activations, permanent installations, and various other experiential designs.
The PM provides manufacturing solutions and helps figure out ways to meet a challenge like, “How do we build an Instagrammable ‘staircase to heaven’ complete with 3D puffy clouds?”
Some fundamentals about this role:
- Responsible for all levels of communication on Katherine Frank Creative projects both internally and externally including contractors, suppliers, and vendor partners
- Work with project teams to provide value engineering solutions, specify material, hardware, electrical/lighting specifications and building techniques
- Create and maintain a flexible & evolving production schedule and overall project budget
- Maintain work orders through lifecycle of project for accuracy, execution, and final quality assurance
- Create and maintain change orders
- Facilitate and host meetings with project teams
- Develop a robust external vendor network
- Manage external vendors, check quality, manage output and schedules
- Ability to source necessary components – including direct purchase materials - required in design of project
- Travel for on-site inspection and supervision as needed

- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in project/production management
- Extensive knowledge of the exhibit or event industry
- Experience with woodworking and metal fabrication a plus
- Engineering/technical mind that can provide solutions to out of the box challenges
- Knowledge of standard fabrication tools and techniques
- Ability to build an external vendor network/Experience sourcing and managing vendors
- Strong written and oral communication
- Experience managing budgets and change order processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Deadline driven & Ability to multitask and problem solve at a high level
- Able to travel for client presentation, site surveys, show site installation
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation a must
