What are the responsibilities and job description for the FOOD PANTRY OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE (Part-Time) position at Katy Christian Ministries?
Reports To: Food Pantry Director
Supervises: Volunteers in the Area
Classification: Regular Part-Time, Non-Exempt (25 hours)
Job Description:
1. Assist the Food Pantry Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Food Pantry.
2. Ensure team of volunteers is effectively distributing food to incoming clients. Specific responsibility areas include:
a. Vehicle traffic flow is managed, and clients are screened for eligibility.
b. Use FIFO rotation practices and ensure shopping and stocking workflows are meeting the client(s) needs.
c. Weights of food distributed to clients are recorded and accurate.
3. Build expert knowledge of all Food Pantry roles and fill in, as necessary.
4. Assist training all volunteers in Food Pantry tasks; must be able to work with Special Needs young adults.
5. Review safety practices and processes for Food Pantry Operations and update as necessary.
6. Maintain a neat and orderly environment.
7. Identify areas for process improvement and raise to Food Pantry Director for consideration.
8. Assist the Food Pantry Director in overseeing the garden and communicate effectively with Master Gardener(s), if needed.
9. Obtain and maintain Food Handler Certification.
10. Cross-train and serve as backup to Food Pantry Data Assistant.
11. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Food Pantry Director.
Requirements:Qualifications/Skills:
1. Excellent computer and organizational skills – knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, and
Outlook
2. Must be able to multitask
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills
4. Physicality – able to lift at least 50 pounds, stand for long periods of time, be able to bend, stoop and kneel
5. High School Diploma/GED
