Qualifications :
College hours, high school diploma or GED
Successful work/office experience, preferably in a school setting
Excellent communication skills
Excellent proofreading skills
Experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications, calculator, fax, copier
Primary Purpose:
Front desk receptionist and clerical duties for the Education Support Center (ESC) and School & Community Engagement Division.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist all ESC visitors, patrons, and staff that enter the building.
- Ensure all visitors and patrons sign-in upon entrance to the building and sign-out upon exiting the building, at the front desk.
- Ensure all visitors, patrons, and staff are adequately serviced by assessing their needs and directing them to the appropriate individuals for further assistance.
- Notify the appropriate department that their visitor/patron/staff member is waiting in the lobby. Ensure that the visitor is escorted through the building to their appointment.
- Handle routine information requests from callers and visitors, and cover switchboard.
- Provide clerical duty assistance with items such as collecting packets and information for meetings, events/programs and other needs.
- Monitor media coverage related to Katy ISD and generate daily media tracker report for Communications Department.
- Maintain Gold Card membership database and vet all applicants through the process.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Management Team for the ESC facility.
- Assist with district meetings and events by making follow up calls, preparing mailings, creating labels, ordering and assembling materials.
- Fill requests for information by fax, mail or email.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, printer, copier, calculator, fax machine, postage meter.
Working Conditions:
Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, push and pull. Repetitive hand motions, prolonged use of a computer. Moderate (15-44 pounds) lifting and carrying. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; some district travel required.
