What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Technician position at Kaukauna Utilities?
Kaukauna Utilities is looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance Team. This role is hands-on, involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of power plant machinery and equipment. You'll work with motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, water turbines, and generators to our power generation facilities running efficiently.
In this position, you'll perform both preventive and corrective maintenance, assist with inspections, and operate equipment like digger derricks, loader/backhoes, and material handling machinery.
Responsibilities also include dam maintenance, welding, and occasional collaboration with outside contractors.
Required Education & Experience
We're looking for someone with eight years of related experience or completion of a mechanical technician apprenticeship program (or equivalent).
Welding certification is required (or must be obtained within one year).
You should be comfortable working in varied conditions, including confined spaces, elevated platforms, and extreme weather.
A Wisconsin Class ABCD Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, along with First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read mechanical drawings are essential.
This role involves physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent bending, kneeling, and working at heights. You'll be working around machinery, noise, fumes, and moving equipment, so proper safety gear will be required.
