What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker position at Kaw Valley Unified School District 321?
Reports to: Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education
Performance Responsibilities:
Services to Students:
- Counseling to IEP and SIT Students who will benefit from services(indiv., group, communicating with families)
- Participates in special education assessment meetings as well as Individual Educational Planning Meeting s
- Meets with students according to the minutes listed in the IEP or SIT Plan
- Monitors and documents progress of IEP goals
- Assists in developing alternative programs for At Risk students. Provides crisis intervention
Services to Families:
- Acts as a liaison between families and school personnel for the clarification of mutual concerns and to facilitate the flow of information.
- Works with families in accessing and utilizing school and community resources through appropriate referral and follow-up.
- Collaborates with outside agencies serving students and their families Assist parents in gaining a better understanding of their child's unique needs and their role in effective parenting.
Services to Teachers
- Assisting teachers with behavior management
- Assists in providing positive behavioral intervention strategies
- Assists staff in developing Functional Behavioral Analysis and/or Behavior Intervention Plans Assists in providing In-service related to the special needs of children
Services to Schools
- Participates in the school Student Intervention Team process Conducts phone calls to parents when a student has multiple absences or there is a concern
Other
- Maintains a log of the nature of daily activities
- Maintains case notes on individuals in order to provide vital information as may be required in cases for the court, DCF, or other agencies
- Submits Medicaid logs for eligible students to Special Services by the 5th of the following month
- Complete Random Moments through SDAC as they are due
- Keep pertinent parties apprised of student progress
- Maintain professional competence through participation in In-services activities
- Serve on committees to promote or further the goals and policies of the district.
- Facilitates meetings effectively. And other duties assigned
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year to be established by the Kaw Valley USD #321 School Board. Maintain a valid license on file at Special Services.
Evaluation
Performance of job will be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policy.
