QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree or three years of experience in area to be taught.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have knowledge of the principles of teaching.
Ability to communicate complex information to people of diverse cultures and educational backgrounds.

Department Specific Requirements

If assigned to Lactation: requires a Lactation certification and one year lactation experience.

If assigned to Maternal Child Health: requires Heartsaver AED; the three years experience must be teaching perinatal community classes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Provides scheduled educational classes as assigned using approved curriculum.

Maintains clinical competency.

Responsible for the delivery of courteous, efficient, quality health care to clients, including patient satisfaction.

Ensures adequate supplies of educational supplies and materials for the classes. Works with clerical support staff to obtain needed supplies and materials.

Addendum (essential for specific dept)

LACTATION:

Works in conjunction with the healthcare team to support and educate patients and public about lactation and breastfeeding. Prioritizes patient referrals based on severity of patient need. Maintains communication with healthcare team to ensure identified lactation or breastfeeding problems are addressed and/or followed up on. Utilizes resources to ensure patients receive post discharge care if needed.

Attends required Department meetings and in-services.

Maintains strict confidentiality.

Displays an attitude that supports Kaweah Health values and department efforts and teamwork.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
