The IT Support Specialist is responsible for the daily management of the ORAFOL Americas Information Systems. This position is the primary contact for general technology and user support for onsite and remote users. The IT Support Specialist will perform all aspects of computer and software installations, moves, migrations, troubleshooting, upgrades, maintaining and supporting PCs, cell phones and laptops. The position has significant interaction with software and hardware vendors and consultants as well as the entire local user base. The IT Support Specialist seeks to keep things running smoothly on a day-to-day basis while at the same time improving the way the organization uses technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for supporting the Information Technology systems including software, hardware installations, upgrading, company cell phones, and multifunction office machines.
Serve as a help desk to ORAFOL Avon location including field sales remote staff.
Administration of user accounts, user groups, security, backups, adding and configuring new workstations, data base supervision, performing backups and archiving of data.
Research and troubleshoot hardware and software problems and provide solutions for the servers, workstations, notebooks, printers, peripheral equipment and voicemail system.
Routine network and administration to include making sure that virus protection software is up to date. Ability to clean-up any infected computers.
Maintain detailed inventory and service records on all office equipment.
Assist corporate IT in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future software, hardware and corporate technology needs, and direct responsibility for management of select IT projects.
Assist corporate IT with the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans if required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Maintain the uptime for the ORAFOL Americas Inc. servers and core applications.
The purchase, implementation, integration and installation of new hardware, software and/or hardware and software upgrades, and maintenance of licensing agreements.
Coordination of the wireless account including account maintenance as well as the setup, configuration and troubleshooting of Blackberry and Palm based smart-phones.
Consult with end users to increase efficiency and reliability of systems.
Maintain relations with software and hardware vendors and manufacturers in regards to systems, peripherals and media.
Document the Information Systems assets, policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow prescribed safety guidelines in accordance to ORAFOL Americas Safety program; use required PPE
Maintains an optimal level of product quality and adheres to ORAFOLs Quality Program
Education Requirements:
Associates degree in IT discipline required or equivalent experience.
Computer and/or network support certification required.
Database programming a plus.
Work Experience:
Working knowledge of Java Script, Java, C , Ruby, Html, SQL, CSS and Python is a plus.
4 years in a similar role with decision-making required.
Experience installing Windows operating systems in a network environment as well as a working knowledge of Windows server operating systems, configuration and security.
Experience with report writing tools is helpful.
