What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crop Scout position at KB Custom Ag Services LLC?
KB Custom Ag Services LLC is excited about our need to add a Crop Scout to our custom harvest team located in the panhandle of Texas (Dalhart, TX 79022 area).
Role: To establish and implement sound ag principles and processes to facilitate KB’s ability to continue leading the way in forage quality. To provide our clients with valuable feedback about their crops so they can make timely, informed, and economical field crop decisions. This is a very active role where you will be completing documentation, scouting fields, and assisting in the collection of information.
Deliverables:
· Reports analyzing different crop types: wheat, triticale, alfalfa, corn, sorghum
· Year-round crop and feed evaluations
· Comprehensive reports on weeds, pests, disease infestation (rootworm, for example)
· Yield estimate analysis reports throughout the growing season
· Trends record book and periodic reports to management about those trends
Responsibilities:
· Scout fields to determine approximate harvest dates and yield potential of crops
· Participate in year-round crop and feed-related evaluations
· Walk fields often in all weather conditions
· Diagnose and assess weed, pest and disease infestations in the fields
· Learn and understand forage quality
· Record crop, soil, weed, and weather trends
· Make recommendations based on your findings
· Remain up to date on latest chemistry and technologies (ex. drones, apps, monitoring devices)

· Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time, including evenings and weekends, if necessary, under all weather conditions
· Valid driver’s license
· Perform all tasks with safety being a priority
· Agronomy or Ag Science degree preferred
· Ability to travel and stay overnight when needed
· Outstanding MS suite skills (focus on Excel)
Work environment:
· The work environment for this position is that of a typical outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements in various states where KB does business.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually low but will reach loud levels when working around harvest equipment.

Hours: As required by business needs. Hours may exceed 40 per week during peak harvest season. This is not a M-F, 8 – 5 position.
