Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the church and all buildings. The Custodian will also open and close the facilities on Sunday and will have contact with church staff and members. The Custodian will be under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager and the Director of Finance and Administration in his absence. Normal workdays are Sunday- Thursday, must also be flexible to rearrange schedules as necessary during special events.
Sunday: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and Monday to Thursday 7 am to 4 pm

Key Responsibilities:

The primary custodial responsibilities are but are not limited to:

Cleaning:

• Carpets
• Bathrooms
• Offices
• Kitchens
• 737 Soup Kitchen Building
• Christian Ed Building
• Youth House
• Scout Houses
• Sweep and mop floors
• Wash and sanitize toilets
• Wipe mirrors, ledges, stair rails, etc.

Table/Chair/Misc set-up and take-down:

• Weekly
• Monthly
• Periodically

Includes arranging tables, and chairs, preparing coffee, tea, water, etc. setup for committees or groups using the facilities other miscellaneous job-related duties as required.

Sunday open/close and set-up:

• Arrive early unlock doors and prepare the church for services/events
• Set out handicap markers
• Set benches at the lobby door
• Prepare coffee, snacks, and tables for connection before church services.

Position Skills and Requirements:

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of the use of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
• Good physical condition and strength.
• High school diploma/GED is preferred.
• Must complete a 5-panel drug test.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
