Position Summary :

Successfully lead the management of local Site or Regional Program Management teams to ensure seamless execution of client programs across the value chain. Ensure the appropriate development and control of related processes and systems. Provide leadership in managing the KBI business and in establishing client relationships aligning with Global PMO processes. Directly lead the Program Management department and functions independently with support from Global Program Management Leadership and executive leadership as necessary. Core duties include management and leadership of processes for continuous improvement of the customer experience, adherence to timelines and budgets. The leader in this role actively contributes to the overall success of the company including operational targets as well as daily business decisions.

Responsibilities : Client Management

  • Manages client expectations efficiently. Be proactive in supporting strong working relationships between KBI and our clients. Able to mend client relationships.
  • Participates in review of proposals / change orders, Requests for Information, presentations, proposal development.
  • Leads issue resolution, and Steering Committees.
  • Uses established scientific / technical acumen, strong interpersonal skills and thorough knowledge of PM capabilities to favorably influence discussions with prospective / new clients.
  • Manages escalation process to effectively and efficiently resolve open client issues.
  • Hosts major clients or represents KBI at the client site including Executive Steering Committee meetings as required.
  • Called upon to convince, persuade, motivate or sell to persons typically having diverse and / or opposing viewpoints.
  • Provides sound judgments and technical / regulatory recommendations on drug development to KBI clients.
  • Drives PM-VOC process and incorporates initiatives to identify and address opportunities to improve client service as part of PMO growth and strategic planning

Program Management

  • Leads the development of infrastructure in Program Management to ensure efficient execution of projects, and ensures that all documentation is generated efficiently and in accordance with required quality standards.
  • Provides oversight to the PM teams to meet KBI objectives as required.
  • Actively participates in conferences, meetings, hearings, or presentations involving problems or issues of considerable consequence or importance, or complexity.
  • Supports demand planning activities (S&OP).
  • Drives delivery of existing business, negotiating internally to meet project timelines.
  • Communicates effectively internally and externally to support business demands.
  • Analyzes risk, establishes contingency plans and identifies trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action. Gathers stakeholder input and ranks the top project risks in terms of total impact.
  • Provides direction regarding portfolio priorities. Resolves project issues and resource constraints as appropriate, working directly with site / functional leadership.
  • Promotes KBI capabilities and manages business discussions.
  • Staff Management

  • Manages direct reports including leadership levels that also have direct reports.
  • Manages staff to ensure documentation of best practices in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.
  • Provide continuous development programs and opportunities to staff, enhancing employee engagement, service, knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor and manage compliance to Program Management Department project delivery processes dealing with issues and identifying opportunities for improvement of our practices.
  • Accurately evaluate the performance levels of direct reports and communicate openly with constructive feedback to develop potential.
  • Responsible for interviewing and hiring of all Program Management staff as budgeted.
  • Business / Financial Management

  • Supports Business Development with strategic client program growth, such as providing input to proposal development, CapEx planning, and client negotiation approach.
  • Timely revenue management and forecasting; high level capacity forecasting to support incoming business planning.
  • Informs Finance / Legal of contractual details or challenges; work closely with Finance and / or Legal to address and resolve outstanding client accounts.
  • Develops pertinent strategic initiatives including integrated offerings, and expansion of capabilities.
  • Hosts clients or represents KBI at the client site including Executive Steering Committee meetings as required.
  • Timely revenue management and forecasting; high level capacity forecasting to support incoming business planning.
  • Drive the Change Order process, ensuring our clients are fully aware of the services available within our Organization and the business potential within our existing portfolio is realized.
  • Contributing member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) representing Program Management.
  • PMO Management Operations

  • Champions implementation of Program Management and / or cross-functional systems and tools in collaboration with Global Program management leadership to increase visibility to the overall business, streamline PM program execution, and deliver an enhanced client experience.
  • Tracks department performance against corporate and Global Program management
  • objectives, team objectives, milestones, timelines and metrics.
  • Owns, manages and provides regular status reporting on the site goals and objectives for self and team.
  • Establishes PMO growth plan, internal project prioritization, annual forecast, and headcount projections.
  • Leads departmental and cross-site initiatives as appropriate, including procedure development and improvement.

  • Requirements :

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Science (M.Sc) or Doctorate (Ph.D.) required Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) in science or related discipline with >
  • 10 years relevant industry experience accepted in lieu of advanced degree.

  • PMP certification (current or planned in the immediate future).
  • Minimum 10 years of direct project management experience; 5 years contract management experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of CDMO industry / services including competitive landscape.
  • Leadership experience in an aggressively growing business climate.
  • Strong mentoring and relationship building skills with ability to effectively manage group and interpersonal conflict situations.
  • Previous industry-related commercial operations or technical leadership experience preferred.
  • Professional presentation skills and ability to interface with senior pharma leaders – demonstrates executive presence.
  • Prior experience effectively managing projects in pharmaceutical or biotech company, CDMO, CRO or related experience required.
  • Proven track record in building project management tools / templates, improving project systems and implementing best practices.
  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to build teams and generate a spirit of collaboration while coordinating diverse activities and groups.
  • Salary Range : $205,000 - $282,700

    Salary range provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
