About KCIA:
Kansas City International Academy (KCIA) is a kindergarten through 8th grade charter school located in the Kansas City Missouri School District. About the Position:
The role of the Reading Tutor is to provide high-quality instruction, support and intervention in the areas of reading and literacy to ensure all students develop the skills to become proficient readers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted literacy interventions daily to students who are not meeting grade-level reading benchmarks.
- Diagnose and evaluate student literacy abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner using research-based assessments.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Contribute to and participate in schoolwide literacy initiatives.
- Maintain systems to manage literacy data to ensure interventions and instruction are effective and assist in the identification and progress of struggling readers.
- Abide by Missouri statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
Qualifications:
- Must hold proper teaching certification according to the state of Missouri
- Must hold a graduate certificate and/or master’s degree in reading instruction (preferred)
- Excellent record of success in providing successful, research-based reading strategies to improve student outcomes
- Completion of LETRS training is preferred
