What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Quality Engineer position at KCI Construction?
Purpose: Quality Engineer partners with the Quality Manager to complete the day-to-day coordination and management of quality activities for designated projects to ensure that all products installed on the project are in compliance with the governing plans and specifications of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review of daily inspection reports, supplied by Quality Control and Quality Assurance inspectors.
- Entering daily inspection reports and testing results into file storage system.
- Maintain a log of all testing completed on any given day and track required documentation until submitted.
- Track Quality Control and Quality Assurance inspectors field time.
- Review of Material Receival Reports to ensure that all materials are in compliance with governing specifications.
- Assists in preparing quality status reports; attend/participate in project status meetings; assists in development of meeting minutes.
- Assist with project-close out activities pertaining to quality documentation.
- Assists with updating the schedule for Quality Control and Quality Assurance inspectors.
- Attend weekly progress meetings.
- Perform additional assignments as directed.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
- Three to five years’ experience in the Construction Industry.
- Relevant experience supporting $10 million projects.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes (ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Experience with highway/roadway is desirable.
- A high degree of integrity.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Success factors include being a self-starter, strong work ethic, team player, time management, and organized.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and P6; Vista experience a plus, but not required.

Physical Demands:
- Work will be hybrid, with some work taking place on a construction site and some work taking place in a typical office setting.
- Work will be occurring regularly at night, high probability of night work.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Limited exposure to physical risk.
- Noise level in the office environment is usually quiet, noise level of field environment may vary by scope of work being performed.
- While performing the duties of this role, employee will be required to sit, talk, and hear.
- Employee is occasionally required stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
