What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Manager position at KCI Construction?
Purpose: The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the quality of KCI’s highway and infrastructure construction projects meet KCI standards, MoDOT specifications, and regulatory requirements. This position will oversee all QC/QA personnel on designated projects to ensure the day-to-day coordination and management of quality activities are in compliance with the governing plans and specifications of the project. This position will require a proactive approach for identifying and resolving quality issues, as well as helping to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing a Quality Control Program specifically tailored to MoDOT projects to ensure all activities meet the required standards and specifications.
- Assist in creating company standards for quality procedures, including written procedures.
- Lead/facilitate the coordination of QC/QA personnel on assigned projects to ensure projects run smoothly
- Manage overall QC/QA project budget
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality related questions and issues related to MoDOT projects
- Work closely with the project team, subcontractors, and MoDOT representatives to ensure quality objectives are both understood and met.
- Ensure that all daily inspection reports, testing documentation, and material certs are collected in a timely manner and stored in the appropriate file storage system
- Review of Material Receival Reports to ensure that all materials are in compliance with governing specifications.
- Identify and document any non-conformance issues and oversee the corrective action in alignment with MoDOT standards.
- Prepare detailed quality control reports that include inspection findings, tests results, and corrective actions as required by MoDOT.
- Facilitate/lead QC/QA status report meetings to keep the project team and MoDOT updated on overall project status.
- Attend and participate in weekly overall construction progress meetings.
- Provide training to onsite personnel on MoDOT quality standards, procedures and best practices
- Perform additional assignments as requested
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
- Three to five years’ experience in the Construction Industry required.
- Relevant experience supporting $10 million MoDOT projects.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes (ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings required.
- Experience with highway/roadway is required.
- A high degree of integrity.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Success factors include being a self-starter, strong work ethic, team player, time management, and organized.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and P6; Vista and E-Bilder experience preferred.

- Work will be hybrid, with some work taking place on a construction site and some work taking place in a typical office setting.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Noise level in the office environment is usually quiet, noise level of field environment may vary by scope of work being performed.
