What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airside Construction Manager - Burbank, CA position at KDG Construction Consulting?
KDG Construction Consulting is seeking an experienced Construction Consultant with at least 10 years of experience on airside and/or heavy civil projects involving paving and utility coordination. The Construction Manager will provide on-site oversight of all field construction activities associated with the completion of several airside construction projects at a mid-size passenger airports in the Southern California region.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Acts as the Owner Representative for owner agency in the oversight of several large airside construction projects.
- Conducts all construction-related meetings and make presentations to all stakeholders, owner staff and management, Airlines, the FAA, other local, state and federal agencies having jurisdictions, and others including third party monitoring, as necessary and determined by the Owner.
- Becomes thoroughly familiar with required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be constructed.
- Coordinates reviews and construction activities with the contractor, inspection, airfield operations, terminal operations, maintenance, and other stakeholder parties.
- Maintains project administrative procedures, budgets and schedules as directed by the owner.
- Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
- Reviews design drawings and specifications for completeness and constructability and assisting in finalization of bid packages or bulletins.
- Reviews all construction scheduling, review comments and approve contractor’s baseline schedule, monthly schedule updates, and three-week-lookaheads.
- Keeps alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure that critical milestones are met for each phase of the project.
- Conducts weekly construction meetings and meeting minutes.
- Manages field document control and record keeping ensuring records management/project documentation meets or exceeds the audit review standards of the FAA, Office of the Inspector General of the United States and other involved parties.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science in Construction related field (Construction Mgmt./ Civil Engineering)
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is preferable.
- Knowledge of various asphalt and concrete pavement experience associated with airfield projects preferred, including experience with FAA airfield pavements, and P-401/P-403/P-501.
- At least 10 years of experience on similar airside or heavy civil/transportation projects involving paving required.
- State of California Professional Engineer's license highly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
- Cal OSHA/OSHA 30 preferred.
- Effective, team-oriented communication and leadership style.
- Demonstrated abilities in developing cooperative working relationships among organizations with competing interests.
- Excellent written and oral skills including ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.

Salary : $175,000 - $220,000
