Under limited supervision, perform semi-advanced journeyman-level and lead vehicle maintenance and repair of the City’s light and heavy-duty equipment, specifically electronic systems. Work varies with some leeway for discretion and independent action.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Install and maintain electronic lighting systems, radios, and other electronic devices on City maintained fleet equipment. Participate in the installation, removal and maintenance of law enforcement equipment such as mobile video systems, mobile computers, GPS hardware, sirens, and warning light systems. Prepare and generate work orders using the fleet maintenance computer program, Computerized Fleet Analysis (CFA). Use online “Mitchell” information database to research service procedures for vehicles. Repair and replace tires using the tire machine and spin balancer. Weld all types of metals using forms of welding including ARC and MIG and fabrication of parts is desired. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
