JOB SUMMARY: To perform an extensive number of data collection functions as delegated by the physician to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients’ conditions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in medical office is a plus
- Certified Medication Aide Preferred but not required
- CNA preferred but not required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Personable and empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.
- Well-organized and attentive to detail.
- Able to work as a team member.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrated computer literacy.
- Expectation of working up the average patient in 12-14 minutes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by this practice.
- Prepare patients in a timely manner for their exam with the doctor. This includes accurately documenting patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
- Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks
- Perform duties consistent with ophthalmic writer/scribe
- Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines
- Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care questions.
- Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician
- Correctly summarize and document what the doctor says during an examination, including but not limited to, proper charting of the examination.
- Observe the patient and physician, and assist when appropriate during the exam
- Accurately perform diagnostic tests as directed with consistent documentation.
ATTENDANCE:
- Is on time according to scheduled work hours and clocks in/out accordingly.
- Must be dependable

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
