Under the direction of the Head Kid’s Camp Counselor, responsible for the supervision and interaction of children in Sports Camp
Requirements:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Responsible for the safety and operation of a Recreation youth program
- Greet parents as they come in to drop off their children
- Orient parents in regard to policies and procedures that must be followed
- Assist with the planning, development, and organization of activities for the program
- Attentively watch and attend to the children in the program
- Ensure that all activities for each day are planned and prepared in advance
- Participate with the children in their activities, including swimming, if applicable
- Ensure that all children are involved with the activities and adjust programs as needed to closely match the children’s skills and abilities
- Discipline children, when necessary, using appropriate and authorized disciplinary techniques
- Treat children if hurt and fill out accident reports
- Responsible for maintaining the professional atmosphere of the Fitness Center
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be dressed in proper uniform
- Handle patron complaints and/or comments or refer them to the proper personnel
- Maintain positive public relations for the Facility
- Give excellent customer service to the patrons and their children
- Help keep the Fitness Center clean and uncluttered
- Set a positive example for other employees to follow
- Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with other employees and management
- Attend all staff meetings
- Provide input for the program
- Discuss any problems or concerns with appropriate personnel
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 16 years of age
- Must submit to a criminal background check
- Previous experience working with children
- Excellent public relations skill
- Ability to relate well with children and be patient with them
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Willingness to assist others
- Ability to hold all matters related to staff and patrons as confidential and to discuss related matters with only the appropriate individuals
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Willing and available to work during scheduled times
- Moderate physical activity including walking, running, swimming, etc.
- Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, and bending
- May have a few disagreeable elements such as noise, poor ventilation, or extreme or uneven temperatures
- Must work inside and outside
- Intermittent exposure to stress
