The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, a good multi-tasker, able to adjust to shifting priorities in a busy legal environment, and be self-motivated, with the ability to work well independently.
As in any small office environment, the responsibilities for this role will vary in scope and skill level, with paralegal and secretarial responsibilities overlapping. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, and correspondence
- Familiarity with rules by jurisdiction and specific courtroom rules in relation to procedures and formatting of court filings
- Docketing all case deadlines
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, etc.
- Scheduling depositions, meetings, hearings, mediations / arbitrations, trials, and other case related events
- Assisting attorneys with deposition preparation and other discovery requests
- Preparing for client meetings, document productions, depositions, hearings and trials
- Additional duties include routine handling of correspondence, maintaining electronic case file, and maintaining an electronic case management system to ensure all deadlines are met for assigned cases
