What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Services Manager position at Keeneland Association Inc?
Essential Job Functions
- In collaboration with Library Director, manages the Library department with development and delivery of the following:
- Youth and adult education program series, including Library Lecture Series and Starting Gate Storytime
- Industry research workshops for undergraduate equine industry programs
- Library and exhibit tours
- In-community outreach programs
- Access-centered collections projects
- Physical and virtual exhibits research and development
- Traveling exhibits administration
- Promotion of Library services, including copy writing for press releases and media partners
- Social media content creation
- Development initiatives, including grant writing
- Keeneland Library Foundation administration
- Research projects
- Supervise interns and collaborate with members of Library staff and other Keeneland departments
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry and community stakeholders
- Support Keeneland departments with the following:
- Community relations and outreach programs
- Research projects
- Communications projects

- Confident in public speaking and representing the Library and Keeneland in the community
- Knowledge of current trends in library, museum, education, and/or publishing services
- Proficient in a wide variety of library, museum, education, and/or publishing applications and technology peripherals
- Knowledge of community relations best practices
- Experience designing and delivering educational programs to diverse patrons
- Experience promoting library, museum, education, and/or publishing services
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience with exhibit research and development
- Prior experience with digitization equipment, applications, and peripherals
- Experience with online library catalogs and digital asset management systems
- Experience creating and delivering standards-based student educational programming
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited program or a Master’s degree in Public History, History, Education, Museum Studies, or a related field preferred
- 5 to 7 years of progressive employment in a high service volume library, museum, heritage site, or cultural resource organization preferred
- 3 to 5 years of progressive employment in the Thoroughbred industry or an industry-adjacent field preferred
