SUMMARY:
Leads crew in maintaining safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the District. Leads crew in maintaining athletic fields.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Grounds and Landscaping
- Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
- Follow scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
- Plant shrubs and vegetation.
- Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games.
- Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
- Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
- Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
- Make repairs or build new structures and or surfaces such as: fences, concrete sidewalks and structures, ramps, curbs, signage, asphalt, parking lot striping, painting, graffiti removal, minor parking lot repair, knowledge of landscape materials and equipment, and coordinate crew activities.
- Provide detailed list of materials for various projects, account for inventoried items, and accurately report the materials used for the completion of projects.
Safety
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Completion of sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow directions
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a record of safe driving
Experience:
- Successful related experience

- Must be 18 years of age or older

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Give direction to the Grounds Technicians and assume responsibility for correct completion of assignments; participate in the daily assigned tasks.
- Assist in the training of new employees by instructing them in the methods and use of materials and equipment.
- Direct the work of assigned employees; provide input for the evaluations of employees in the work unit or crew; confer with supervisor and document personnel issues under the direction of supervisor.
