Product Estimating Specialist
Job Description

Local Manufacturing Company, in business for nearly 70 years, is seeking an individual to establish product cost estimating needs for the company. We are a financially sound organization with a well established reputation for innovation and quality. Our state of the art manufacturing facility offers customers creative design, engineering, fulfillment and logistics analysis.

The product estimating work involved is fast paced and detail specific. The estimating specialist will be trained to understand how to set up estimates for a wide range of products produced by the company. They will also learn the processes involved in producing the company’s products.

This position ideal for a recent college graduate or a person who has an associate’s degree in accounting with an aptitude for watching details and evaluating costs.

Responsibilities:

• Set up specs in the system based upon drawings and information provided by the design and production departments
• Understand manufacturing capabilities and limitations as it relates to building specs
• Understand the costs incorporated into each product and assist in evaluating the system in insure that these costs are properly incorporated
• Maintain communication with production supervisors to obtain feedback which will assist with accurately costing product
• Provide accurate quotes to the sales department and suggest alternatives that may help to gain the sale of the item
• Update pricing in the system as needed
• Learn and understand the products purchased from a variety of vendors
• Assist with getting quotes from vendors
• Assist with purchasing needs of the company
• Understand quality issues as they impact cost estimating and purchasing
• Other duties as assigned

• Must have excellent organizational skills for a fast paced, constantly changing environment

• Able to handle multiple project at one time
• Good business communication skills; both oral and written
