Kelly Government Solutions is a strategic supplier and business partner to the federal government and its key suppliers. We are seeking a Medical Technologist (Generalist) to to support the White River Junction VA Medical Center in VT. The right candidate will perform clinical laboratory testing in areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, and Coagulation. The MT will ensure quality control, instrument maintenance, and compliance with VA and CAP (College of American Pathologists) standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemistry testing on automated instrumentation (Abbott Architect ci8200, Abbott Alinity, Advanced Instruments Osmos, Polymedco OC80) and manual chemistry tests.
- Conduct urinalysis testing using Beckman Coulter Urinalysis systems and manual procedures.
- Perform blood bank duties including cross matching, antibody screening/identification, and processing blood products.
- Operate hematology and coagulation testing equipment (Sysmex, ACL Top, Alcor iSed).
- Conduct microbiology testing including plating, gram staining, reading plates, Microscan setup, and PCR testing.
- Perform quality control testing and maintain documentation according to established protocols from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Proficiency Testing Program.
- Process specimens and maintain proper chain of custody.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance.
- Document all test results accurately in the Laboratory Information System.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution.
- Current national certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLS or CLS).
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology.
- Current license/certification to practice as a Medical Technologist.
- Strong computer skills and experience with laboratory information systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
