What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turnaround Mechanical Planner position at Kelly?
Kelly Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Planner. The Mechanical Planner will create and assemble a quality job package ensuring safe and efficient execution of the job scope in the field. Quality refers to job package accuracy and job package value.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure job plans adhere to EH&S Standards and local regulations, being more stringent than EH&S Standards if necessary.
- Utilize the Elevated Work Access Selection Tool to identify safe alternate means of access reducing worker risk.
- Create job packages with zero errors and omissions, and no field changes required.
- Ensure job package content conforms to GMWP Step 2.1.11 (Job Plan Package Contents) including flange tags, flange tag listing, Bill of Materials, torque and pipe specs.
- Review PM orders for technical completeness and scope clarity, sending back incomplete or insufficient orders to the gatekeeper.
- Verify field conditions and confirm equipment matches job scope by walking the job site, even if the plan was pulled from archive records.
- Verify all component parts meet pipe and material specs, field dimensions, equipment orientation and constructability.
- Accurately review and confirm job step durations, job step sequencing, support equipment requirements and crew sizes from assigned contractors.
- Collaborate with TAC and MES to reduce or modify inspection scope of work and resultant support needs.
- Minimize contingencies and adding cushion to planned man hours and costs.
- Add markup and comments to job package documents such as P&IDs, equipment drawings, torque and piping specs.
- Purchase ordered parts: obtain quotes and lead times from vendors or request materials coordinators to ensure planned costs are accurate.
- Validate correctness of purchase ordered parts with subject matter experts before ordering.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 3-5 years of related experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Familiarity with SAP.
- Background in Planning is preferred.
- Teamwork and leadership skills required.
