Duties:

Produce and/or review exhibits, schedules and report pages for monthly, quarterly and annual report sections as assigned. Assist management with completion of reports and ad hoc analysis of accounts and projections as requested. Assist with the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, including monthly reports, statutory schedules and footnotes for inclusion in quarterly/annual financial statements. Produce, reconcile and analyze specific assigned accounting functions including journal entries, operational banking transactions and reports; complete requests from underwriting, claims, internal audit and collections as applicable to specific responsibilities. Reconcile accounts and confirm adequate source records to all transactions, including approval limits and authorizations; review work of accountants and associate accountants to ensure accuracy and timeliness of records for specific area of responsibility and backup to other accountants as secondary responsibility when needed. Participate in meetings with vendors, third party servicers and internal staff to acquire knowledge of transactions and give input on processing or reporting activities of Finance, including ideas for efficiencies and more valuable reporting. Perform reviews and analysis to ensure accuracy of accounting, financial reports, and take action as applicable for insurance and reinsurance accounting, investments, payroll, payroll taxes, benefits and retirement processing, recording and reporting. Utilizing the Finance controls and procedures, review work of Finance staff to ensure timeliness and accuracy of records. Train and mentor Finance staff, including complex accounting issues and functions related to new regulations or internal functional changes. Perform banking duties including transfers, investments, maintaining cash flow analysis and letters of credit. Report system issues to management, teammates and IT and assist with problem resolution. Assist IT with requirement profile, analysis and testing of new software and software upgrades. Evaluate and suggest improvements for software procedures and interfaces between systems to ensure strong controls and efficiencies. Identify and communicate potential cost savings and operational efficiencies. Assist with the preparation, analysis, and updates for KEMI’s operating budget. Provide insight for the creation of new or updates to existing department procedures. Achieve Employee SMART Goals. Perform other duties as requested.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of accounting regulations, investments, insurance, reinsurance and/or payroll. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; basic knowledge of PowerPoint and Access. Ability to efficiently learn and operate various software, including business and accounting systems. |
Education: |
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business preferred; CPA, CGMA, CTP or equivalent preferred. |
Experience: |
Five years’ progressive experience in accounting; five years of insurance, investment, reinsurance or payroll accounting preferred. |
