We are now looking for an experienced Process Engineer, to join our I&W Manufacturing Coagulants team. This position will be located at our Baltimore, MD, plant. Working closely with Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, and Lead Maintenance Mechanic, this role supports the optimization of plant processes with the goal of maximizing throughput and enhancing product quality. The role provides process engineering support, including process design, project management, improvement, and troubleshooting. This role also champions process safety and assists with environmental regulatory reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Safety & Compliance
- Assisting in technical calculations related to compliance reporting
- Promoting a safety-oriented culture
- Monitoring and improving continuous and batch chemical processes
- Continuously updating standard operating procedures
- Reporting any processes and equipment problems, including night and weekend monitoring
- Creating reporting of key production metrics for the site management team
- Developing a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment
- Creating a training bible for all plant processes
- Working with external contractor to update all process P&ID’s
- Troubleshooting problems
- Working to reduce costs through improving quality and productivity
- Responsible to execute PSSR’s, MOC’s, and PHA’s on an as-needed basis.
- Utilizing fully integrated IT business system (SAP) in all processes
- Issuing maintenance work requests and work orders
- Supervising production personnel
- Training, evaluating and reviewing performance of production personnel
- Developing or molding practices to improve productivity
- Superivsing loading and unloading of trucks and rail
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4 year bachelor’s degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment with a working knowledge of plant technical process flows and operations, including progressive track record. (Process Engineer, Production Engineer, etc.)
- Information technology skills with advanced knowledge of MS Excel and ERP SAP
- Superior interpersonal skills
- Requires overall knowledge of chemical processing equipment, plant processes, environmental guidelines, and state, federal and local employment law
