Employment Opportunity - Public Health Nurse - Temporary – Full Time – Exempt
Public Health Nurse Responsibilities:
- Provides direct nursing services in all community health programs, which include, but are not limited to immunizations, communicable disease, emergency preparedness, & other special programs & projects.
- Performs work requiring advanced knowledge, which is predominately intellectual in character, in areas of physical science including, but not limited to microbiology, physiology, and epidemiology.
- Handles the investigation and control of communicable disease by conducting appropriate follow-up activities.
- Prepares records and reports of an operational, professional and, occasionally, research nature.
Schedule:
- 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 11:00 am – 7:00 pm Tuesday.
- Temporary position is scheduled to end on June 30, 2026, with possibility of extension.
Benefits:
- Base Salary -$51,000 per year.
- Approximately 14.5 paid holidays per year (Holidays approved each year by Kendall County Board.)
- Paid Vacation Time – accrued each month, available for use immediately, increases incrementally with years of service.
- Paid Sick Time – 6 hours accrued each month, available for use immediately, unlimited carryover each year.
- Paid Personal Time – 40 hours annually, complies with Illinois Paid Leave Act.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Illinois license as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
- One year of experience in infectious disease surveillance and prevention work, to include the provision of client-centered disease prevention counseling preferred.
- Public health experience preferred.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass background check.
