Kennebec Behavioral Health, established in 1960 to provide comprehensive behavioral health services and named one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the last 4 consecutive years, is seeking highly motivated, compassionate and dedicated individuals to provide emergency response to adults and children experiencing a crisis event, as a Crisis Responder. This position will be supporting those who are struggling to cope with symptoms of a mental health challenge, traumatic life event or safety concerns. Staff collaboratively assess client risk factors and determine appropriate the level of care needed to move forward. Some of the key responsibilities of the position include: Providing risk assessments, community-based response, connecting clients to appropriate resources and protecting client confidentiality and rights.
This position will be based out of our Augusta office, but travel throughout Kennebec and Somerset counties is required. Since Crisis is a 24/7 service, flexibility for working weekends and holidays is required. Shift differentials will be added to the base pay of $21. There are full-time, part-time and per diem positions available.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in a social service field with one (1) year of relevant experience; or, an Associate’s Degree in a social service field, with three (3) of relevant experience. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team is helpful, as is experience working with populations of all ages and needs. A valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance is required for this opportunity.
Upon hire, candidates will receive training to be a crisis service provider, consisting of 8 – 10 weeks of paid training in a combination of class time, and job shadowing/hands-on experience.
